Synopsis

Organization of sustainable and high-quality medical care of the population is one of the fundamental tasks of developed countries; therefore, in addition to private sources, a significant part of the generated GDP is also allocated for these purposes from public sources. To this end, 2.444 million EUR or 6.34 % of GDP were spent in Slovenia in 2015. An integral part of public health care services is the implementation of pharmacy services, which encompass supplying of the population and medical institutions and other organizations with medicinal products. The existing legal regulation of pharmacy services is substantively flawed, as it does not follow unified principles of providing universal health care services. Therefore, in recent years, demands for modernization of implementation of health case, as well as pharmacy services, which are nowadays highly monopolized, became more notable. This book introduces the initial study on the implementation of pharmacy services in Slovenia, which represents the basis for the implementation of the reform of pharmacy services.
